For the last few generations, however, Intel hasn’t updated its HEDT line-up, instead favoring its reinvigorated mainstream segment, which offer massive performance uplifts, thanks to their updated, high-performance hybrid architectures. That is no longer the case though, with the just-introduced Xeon W series.

There’s little question that the average selling price of high-end Android phones has been creeping up over recent years, though this current launch cycle seems to have softened a bit, likely due to the uncertain economic climate. OnePlus has historically lead the charge with respect to bringing top-end “never settle” specs and features to a reasonably-priced flagship offering, though the company’s more recent releases were inching up in price as well.

There’s a silicon slugfest going on right now between AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) and its chief rivals Intel and NVIDIA. If it were not for the continued execution machine that AMD has proven itself to be under the leadership of its CEO, Dr. Lisa Su, one might think this stiff competition is an extremely tall order. But AMD is apparently oblivious, because the company continues a relentless pace of innovation.

The annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is ramping up in Las Vegas, and many innovative tech companies are using the event to showcase their products for the coming year in 2023. Nvidia has historically taken advantage of the venue to launch new GeForce graphics card technology for PC gamers, and this year is no exception. Wednesday marks the launch of the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, a more cost-effective and significantly more energy-efficient variant of the company’s powerful new Ada Lovelace GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) architecture.

Back in September last year, I spent some time with Intel at their Innovation event in San Jose, learning about the company’s 13th Gen Core Series desktop processors. The new Radeon RX 7900 XTX and 7900 XT are AMD’s newest flagship cards, and the company has managed to deliver a competitive offering for PC Gamers at more attractive price points that deliver a solid value proposition. But before we dig into the particulars on performance and retail pricing, let’s have a high-level look at what makes AMD’s Navi 31 GPU, that powers these new gaming beasts, tick.

Late last year, the US Department of Defense (DOD) put in motion a program called RAMP-C (Rapid Assured Microelectronics Prototypes – Commercial). The goal of this program is to help create state-of-the-art commercial semiconductor design, foundry and fabrication services with access for critical DOD systems and infrastructure. In the process, the US DOD awarded Intel an agreement to provide commercial chip foundry services in the first phase of this program. In-turn Intel Foundry Services (IFS) will be working with key partners such as Synopsys.

Not only are gaming PCs with powerful graphics cards still experiencing solid demand, but the entire desktop PC platform has experienced a transformation of sorts in recent years, and was driven even further into the mainstream during the pandemic.

Intel certainly brought the fight back to AMD with its 13th Gen Core series, for creators, workstation professionals, PC enthusiasts and gamers.

Ampere Altra Max's efficiency and throughput could prove to be highly impactful in the effort to bring more sustainable data centers on line to meet the ever-growing demands for cloud-first and cloud-native solutions and services.

The new cutting-edge GPU architecture brings real innovation for PC gamers, from DLSS 3 upscaling to advancements in ray tracing acceleration, but it also offers a ton of horsepower for creators and designers as well.

Qualcomm AI engines and silicon solutions are powering more and more devices out on the connected, intelligent edge.

If any major chip player can keep up with the torrid pace required to compete in gaming and data center GPUs, it’s Intel.

Intel Unison may finally have gotten this fairly simple integration concept, that’s apparently not easy to execute, right.

There is a common misconception that NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX GPUs are meant solely for gaming and some content creation workloads, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. While NVIDIA does offer an array of powerful, purpose-built enterprise products for specialized engineering, data science, economic, and AI / ML applications, GeForce RTX GPUs can accelerate many of these workloads as well – all GPUs are massively-parallel processors after all.

NVIDIA’s Lovelace is indeed a beast slab of silicon with a more-of-everything design approach. However, its base chip architecture was also designed with new innovations in its various silicon engines, in an effort to scale performance and visuals beyond the limitations of Moore’s Law.

This past week, Microsoft announced the general availability of Azure Virtual Machines featuring Ampere Altra processors, in 10 Azure regions globally. This marks another significant triumph for Ampere, which has landed wins with numerous leaders in the cloud space, including Google, Cloudflare, Tencent, and Oracle to name just a few.
